Unconditional love is, by definition, free of judgement. The mind of virtually every human being operates by sensing various stimuli, distinguishing one from another, interacting with them, and recording the effects. Making distinctions requires detecting difference or contrast. This "operating system" has evolved to enhance survival of our species, and so is normal and inherently valuable. What also results, however, is application of this mindset to personality development and to construction and maintenance of personal reality. There becomes a reliance on contrast, with life being guided by attitudes and memories attached to one aspect versus another... like vs. dislike, strength vs. weakness, good vs. bad, attraction vs. repulsion, right vs. wrong, etc. In the process of using our minds in this way we come to believe in the reality of and necessity for differences. And yet unconditional love operates outside of differences. It welcomes all, attends all, accepts all, values all, embraces all, and makes room for all. This does not mean we stop judging; it simply means we keep deciding to see judging for what it is, a valued survival adaptation, and nothing more. Practice looking at yourself, others, and all of life from a fresh perspective that is blind to differences and without "preferences." Notice what appears.
