In Touch: How to Tune In to the Inner Guidance of Your Body and Trust Yourself, by John J. Prendergast, PhD
In Touch is a groundbreaking, experiential guide to the felt-sense of our inner knowing - the deep intelligence available through our bodies. Each chapter presents moving stories, helpful insights from spirituality, psychology, and science, and simple yet potent experiments for integrating the gifts of inner knowing into every aspect of daily life. Explore the phenomena of attunement, felt-sensing and the subtle body, shadows as portals, the art of identifying and undoing our core limiting beliefs, the somatic qualities of inner knowing - relaxed groundedness, inner alignment, open-heartedness, and spaciousness, and the fruits of inner knowing. |
The Answer Model, A New Path to Healing
by John Montgomery and Todd Ritchey (2010) The authors propose that nearly all mental/psych dysfunction is related to addiction to the neuro-chemical effects of feeling states that evolved long ago to enable the human species to survive and procreate in a hunter-gatherer society context. We are essentially suffering from a mismatch between our biological design and the world we have created for ourselves which makes it extremely difficult to achieve and maintain mind-body homeostasis (equanimity). Montgomery's series of 6 short articles in Psychology Today entitled The Embodied Mind also provides a good overview. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-embodied-mind |
